"The harbour front is a must on a sunny evening, drooling over the yachts and what could've been."
Martyn & Karen - Crawley, UK – June 2019
We had a wonderful 4 nights at Indulgence Divine, the weather couldn't have been better. Many a happy hour spent watching Malta roll past as we graced many of the local bars to "people watch". The harbour front is a must on a sunny evening, drooling over the yachts and what could've been. The combined ticket for the Inquisitor's Palace and the Maritime Museum is a bargain.
Mdina is well worth a visit, as is Valletta, but if relaxing is your thing, then stay in Birgu and chill. The ferry to Valletta is amazing value and the buses are also excellent.
Indulgence Divine is an artistic delight in this fantastic town and we can't wait to come back.
"So happy to be able to return to Indulgence Divine"
Penny & Gary - Toronto, Canada – May 2019
So happy to be able to return to Indulgence Divine. Rediscovering Malta has been wonderful and staying at ID has made it perfect. Aldo, we can't thank you enough for opening your home to us.
"We have so many strong memories to take back to London and a lot of reading about Malta and its fascinating history to look forward to."
Jeremy & Christine - London, UK – March 2019
Malta has changed somewhat since I was last here in 1971! But the magic that is Grand Harbour and its mysteries remain unchanged. We consider ourselves very fortunate to have been introduced by our friends, Lesley and Graham to the charms of Indulgence Divine, Birgu and Senglea. It has been a wonderful six days of discovery and rediscovery. Aldo, thank you for being such an attentive host and for guiding our visit. We have so many strong memories to take back to London and a lot of reading about Malta and its fascinating history to look forward to.
"You have thought of everything Aldo."
Karen & Max - Oxford, UK – March 2019
We had a wonderful stay. You have thought of everything Aldo. Looking forward to our next trip already. Thank you and Happy St Patrick's Day!
"We enjoyed discovering local sites & restaurants"
Helen & Michael - Oxford, UK – February 2019
Arrived on the weekend of Malta's worst storm in our 30 yrs! But despite a very wild and windy couple of days, it was a relaxing and enjoyable stay. We enjoyed discovering local sites & restaurants. Especially a trip to Dingli Cliffs. Excellent restaurant there and very informative walking tour.
"ID was an exquisite place for our first visit to Malta"
James & Glenda - Dungloe, Ireland – November/December 2018
Great location. Birgu has so much to offer. As well as the must dos of Fort St Angelo and the Inquisitor's Palace, don't miss the very nearby Norman House and St Lawrence Church/museum. Great food at Osteria Ve, Del Borgo , Tal-Petut and D Centre.
Ferry - public and cheap to Valletta - excellent views. St John's Co Cathedral obviously but to start get the lift near the ferry, head to main city gate and head clockwise around the walls to avoid the crowds a bit.
In different directions, take buses to No.1 Hypogeum (you must book) and Tarxien Temples, No.2 Mdina (esp. Museum at Cathedral).
ID was an exquisite place for our first visit to Malta. Thank you Aldo for your helpfulness and pointers.
"thank you very much for all your efforts and the great care you have taken to provide such a wonderful place."
Simon & Cat - Fulbourn, UK – November 2018
We came to Malta to find a peaceful haven in which to relax and unwind whilst gently warming in the sun. Indulgence Divine has provided that and much more.
So thank you very much for all your efforts and the great care you have taken to provide such a wonderful place. We hope to return...
"Even with all the developments in and around Vittoriosa, Bormla and Senglea, the 3 Cities remain a lovely calm contrast to the hustle and bustle of Valletta."
Ken & Vivien - London, UK – October 2018
So good to be back at ID for our 8th visit. It still feels like our "home from home" and we really don't want to have to leave. Thank you Aldo again for letting us experience this haven of relaxation and calm. Thank you to to Josephine for the welcome treats and great to see Victor again when he popped round.
Even with all the developments in and around Vittoriosa, Bormla and Senglea, the 3 Cities remain a lovely calm contrast to the hustle and bustle of Valletta. Great to have had the opportunity to see the capital in its year of culture though we really hope we get the chance to come back to ID.
"Will definitely recommend"
Kairee & Bennard – October 2018
We've had a wonderful stay here at Indulgence Divine, perfect and peaceful location! The personal touches, fabric and detail in each room are impeccable. Many thanks for such great hospitality. Will definitely recommend.
"...the location of ID is much better"
Paul & Gigi from Perth, Australia – September 2018
This is a truly great apartment Aldo. You have really thought about everything. We are so glad that we happened to find this, especially since it was just an internet search to find decent accommodation here in Malta. We were initially disappointed that all the good stuff in Valletta was booked up (almost a year ago), but have since found that the location of ID is much better. We have enjoyed our stay here immensely.
Dear Paul and Gigi, Thank you so much for choosing Indulgence Divine. Valletta does indeed get booked up first (we know as we had one property there too before we decided to sell). The reason is that Valletta's name precedes it and most visitors know the city by name. Valletta can however become victim to its own success and may seem to some a tad too touristy at times. I still find Valletta to be delightfully striking but we're only a stone's throw from it anyway. Vittoriosa's history is decisively older than that of the capital city and hopefully won't ever loose its local charm to excessive tourism. Regards, Aldo.
"The most difficult part of our trip has been working out whether to spend our time in the fascinating museums, wandering the beautiful streets... or simply taking advantage of ID itself - sitting on the terrace reading a good book."
Chris & Christina from St Albans, UK – August 2018
We only booked our trip to Malta & ID a week before heading out here, and as last-minute holidays go, it has been excellent. We couldn't have found a better place to stay even if we'd been planning a year in advance. ID has really been the perfect base to explore Malta.
The most difficult part of our trip has been working out whether to spend our time in the fascinating museums, wandering the beautiful streets, lazying on the beaches, indulging in all the great food & wine Malta has to offer, or simply taking advantage of ID itself - sitting on the terrace reading a good book.
All in all, we've had a fantastic time - thank you Aldo for such a beautiful place to stay, and all the helpful additions like the house information booklet.
There's so much more to see and do in Malta that we'll have to come back soon!
Dear Chris and Christina, It has been lovely having you stay at our boutique rental. We do try our best to keep you 'captive' but Malta's history and character are tough competitors indeed. Regards, Aldo.
"Indulgence Divine is even better than we hoped it would be"
Erika & Chad from Oberlin, USA – June 2018
Indulgence Divine is even better than we hoped it would be, and we had high hopes! We love the balcony, the roof, the bathroom tiles, the library, the Garden of Earthly Delights.
We much appreciated the wine and snacks, which saved us a grocery run. The house guide was also very helpful.
I'll add that I originally was attracted to this apartment because I've always been charmed by the nearby Cafe Riche (which I highly recommend). Now that I'm just as charmed by this apartment, I've got the ideal spot in Malta.
"I was particularly pleased to have found a great book in the library, to read on the terrace sun-beds and in the evenings."
Stephen & Lisa from Scottish Highlands, UK – June 2018
ID is an amazing home to stay in whilst exploring Valletta and the Three Cities. We loved being immersed in the heart of Birgu, surrounded by the history and local culture.
We loved the mixture of History, Art and Comfort afforded by Indulgence Divine and fully intend on recommending a stay here to all our friends and family.
I was particularly pleased to have found a great book in the library, to read on the terrace sun-beds and in the evenings.
Thank you for a great place to stay and for being so helpful.
"Thank you Aldo for being at the end of an email/phone to often help and advise. We have had an awesome time and will most definitely be back!"
Vicki & David from Cambridge, UK – June 2018
What an amazing place Indulgence Divine is to stay! It is always great to come back to a lovely base after a day out exploring. ID is a brilliant base - location is perfect to discover all of Malta's towns.
Thank you Aldo for being at the end of an email/phone to often help and advise. We have had an awesome time and will most definitely be back!
Dear Vicky and David, Always feel free to email us whether it is to ask questions about the islands or just to keep in touch. We look forward to seeing you again soon. Regards, Aldo.
"Indulgence Divine has been a great place to be based to enjoy fascinating Valletta, with pleasant little trips on the water taxis."
Kevin & Alison from Brough, UK – June 2018
Our story at Indulgence Divine is the second part of our stay on Malta - and it was a lovely counterpoint to the hotel part. The visit to Malta was a return to my roots, having been born in Mtarfa, to a services family in 1963... having returned, I wish I had come back sooner, having left as a baby in 1964.
Malta has been a revelation, with so many contrasts and so many places of fascination and interest, and great views and vistas.
Indulgence Divine has been a great place to be based to enjoy fascinating Valletta, with pleasant little trips on the water taxis.
The people are as friendly as everyone says, always happy to chat and offer help or advise. The food has been great and so much choice.
Congratulations on a fabulous place. Aldo and Mike, your creative flair shines though every room.
"My husband had booked this as a surprise for my 60th Birthday... It is stunning and I couldn't stop looking at all the colours, details and pictures."
Elaine & James from Essex, UK – May/June 2018
Indulgence Divine is a beautiful and relaxing place to stay. My husband had booked this as a surprise for my 60th Birthday so I was amazed at the apartment. It is stunning and I couldn't stop looking at all the colours, details and pictures. It is a lovely quiet area, with easy access to everything.
The convenience store was lovely and we had a lovely last meal at Osteria Ve which was great after a day spent in Valletta. It's been a lovely few days here. Thank you.
"Her young memories being of black-clad ladies making lace in the streets - more likely now to see groups of young ladies on their mobiles!"
Tony & Penny from Hertford, UK – May 2018
Penny was born on the island at Sir Paul Boffa's Hospital where her mother worked while her dad was in the Navy. She visited again aged 10 and in her early 30's and has seen the large change over that time. Her young memories being of black-clad ladies making lace in the streets - more likely now to see groups of young ladies on their mobiles!
We've had a very nice stay here - it is very well situated and we hired a car for our last 3 days to get around the rest of the island.
The decor is certainly an eclectic mix of 'old' and 'new' and very comfortably put together. We are off for 6 nights to Gozo now, so not ending our 'Malta' jaunt.
Dear Tony and Penny, How lovely to have been party to such a delightful return to Penny's birth place. Thank you for giving us the opportunity. We'd love to hear more! Regards, Aldo.
Here's a studio-flat ideal for short stays in the city
We've now extended our magnate property portfolio to London... well, let's not get ahead of ourselves, shall we? Mike and I have a nice little pad ideal for two people which we'd also like to share with you, a contemporary space from which to discover the buzzing city. If you mention you saw this on this website, you also get a bottle of wine when you book your stay.
For, as Samuel Johnson is known to have said “Sir, when a man is tired of London, he is tired of life; for there is in London all that life can afford.”
"modern design of a high order sits comfortably within the ancient stone walls of this lovely house."
Michael & Susan from East Sussex, UK – April/May 2018
We were previously on the island in 1971 staying with friends in St Julians. That period, 47 years ago, was very different from today - some building development was taking place - mainly villas at the coast and the economy was much centred on the naval dockyard. The old buses were everywhere with many drivers' cabs decorated in the manner of religious shrines. We loved it, especially the charm and friendliness of the Maltese people. We were much saddened when our very close friends were forced to depart with 48 hours notice - they still however think of Malta as their second home and visit once-twice every year - now we see their reasons for their constant love of the country.
We are overwhelmed by the development of the Island - we have seen so much exciting and challenging infrastructure and design projects - as our taximan from the airport said - it's all BOOM! What is most pleasing is that outstanding success has not in any way spoiled that warmth and humour and openness of the Maltese "man in the street"/
Birgu is wonderful - to explore the little streets is magical. There is something interesting to see around every corner and the ongoing restoration projects of domestic buildings is awe inspiring. Easy access to Valletta and other cities and towns makes Birgu the perfect base for a holiday.
Indulgence Divine is great. We have mostly occupied ancient houses in the UK but have always played "restoration" according to what we have been 'taught' by English Heritage, National Trust and the Local Planning for listed buildings. How refreshing (and daring) to restore I.D. in a manner where modern design of a high order sits comfortably within the ancient stone walls of this lovely house.
Our thanks to Aldo for having provided the opportunity to stay in this lovely accommodation. We thank also the welcoming from Leila and Sam and the charming lady who cleaned and tidied the house half way through our stay.
"I would love to stay indefinitely. I am a total convert to the Birgu way of life."
Claire & Steve from West Yorkshire, UK – February 2018
My lovely boyfriend Steve brought me to Malta to celebrate my 40th birthday in style. And style it was! What a beautiful setting for our Maltese experience. To which I hope there will be many more in the very near future. Indulgence Divine truly did become our home from home.
The welcome gift basket was such a thoughtful touch. And on the following day we were able to enjoy the wine in a Spritzer with brunch on the fantastic roof terrace. Even though we didn't get the opportunity to use the reading room, it was such a joy to discover! I could imagine myself curled up on the sofa in this bijou bibliophiles' bolt hole. Bliss!
I must add how hospitable the Maltese are. Everywhere we went we felt very welcome. I would love to stay indefinitely. I am a total convert to the Birgu way of life.
Thank you so much for sharing your Oasis with us Aldo.
"we always felt slightly smug returning here each evening!"
Alan & Claire from Oakenshaw, UK – February 2018
A wonderful stay. Indulgence Divine provides an excellent base... everything we needed and in a great location (we always felt slightly smug returning here each evening!)
We had thought that a week would be plenty of time to experience all that Valletta/3 cities has to offer... but are pleased to find that there is plenty left for a future visit.
"We found Vittoriosa enchanting - a place that could really get under your skin"
Claire & Bryan from Chesire, UK – October 2017
We have had a really lovely time staying in ID. We found Vittoriosa enchanting - a place that could really get under your skin, a great place to return to after a day's sightseeing and fighting the cruise liner crowds in Valletta. Thanks for your company Aldo. It was great to meet you.
"What a lovely place!"
Bettina & Frank from Berlin, Germany – October 2017
What a lovely place! Congratulations Aldo for this wonderful oasis of relaxation, joy and calm. Thank you for your hospitality and, of course, a special thank you to Noni for the warm welcome and the good advice! This was our first trip to Malta but certainly not the last. When we come back... yes we will love to stay again at ID. All the best!
"ID remains reassuringly the same perfect oasis of relaxation and calm."
Ken & Vivien from London, UK – October 2017
Six months since we were last here! Though there have been some changes in the local area (building developments such as the American Uni on the waterfront, ID remains reassuringly the same perfect oasis of relaxation and calm.
It has become a 'home from home' and it's why we have been seven times now! Thank you to Noni for the welcome treats and for coffee. Thanks to Josephine too. And of course thanks to Aldo for making this all possible. We hope to be back in 2018 for Valletta's year of culture.
"We were looking for somewhere unusual and special for our honeymoon - Malta and Indulgence Divine have definitely been that."
Marie & Bart from Brighton, UK – September 2017
Malta has so much to see - we found some beautiful places such as the Blue Grotto (take a boat there), Marsaxlokk Harbour and its market, Golden Bay and its sandy beach and Anchor Bay which has the set from Popeye film.
We have had a fantastic stay at Indulgence Divine, from the minute we were welcomed by Noni we felt completely relaxed. We were looking for somewhere unusual and special for our honeymoon - Malta and Indulgence Divine have definitely been that. Everyone has been so friendly everywhere we went. Indulgence Divine has been a fantastic base from which to explore. We'll be back soon.
"Indulgence Divine could not have been more perfectly articulated - merging the old with the new and the delightful pops of color and comfort at every turn!"
Laura & Avery from Washington, USA – June/July 2017
Dear Aldo, Hmmm... where to start? We could not have chosen a more lovely place to stay for our anniversary and first visit to Malta! Indulgence Divine was everything we imagined it would be and more! We loved the quiet location with easy access to everything we wanted to do - including nice day trips to Mdina and Valletta and to Malta's fabulous ruins (Hypogeum - oh my!).
In Birgu we enjoyed the solitude, lovely little restaurants and harbor, and most of all, your beautiful home Indulgence Divine could not have been more perfectly articulated - merging the old with the new and the delightful pops of color and comfort at every turn! True confession: We spent our first and last days in Malta resting, reading and relaxing at "home" - it was divine indeed! Finally, thank you to wonderful Noni! We'll be back!
"What an absolutely gorgeous townhouse... refurbished and created with love and enjoyment."
Scott & Frauke from Glasgow, UK – June 2017
What an absolutely gorgeous townhouse. It's obviously been refurbished and created with love and enjoyment. All the design touches, the artwork on the walls, the fabrics, the considered furniture all tie in to a wonderful experience. The welcome pack is so thoughtful as are the QR points and the specially created welcome magazine.
We've already raved about this place, so you may get some further bookings from friends!
"...comfortable haven of peace and comfort in Birgu."
Mel & Marlene from Cape Town, South Africa– June 2017
We have loved our stay in our comfortable haven of peace and comfort in Birgu. The attention to detail is outstanding. Everything exceeded our expectations. Two days was tantalisingly short - but we will be back. Thank you Aldo for creating this special place.
"I wish we could have stayed longer and we will certainly be back."
Sue & Gerry from Grafton, London – May 2017
We have really enjoyed staying at ID - so beautiful and in a gorgeous location. I wish we could have stayed longer and we will certainly be back. Noni welcomed us - her warmth was lovely.
Enjoyed the welcome pack- loved the prickly pear jam in particular. Had some great meals and went to some interesting sights but always glad to return to the joys of ID + peace of Birgu. Many many thanks.
"A great way for me to celebrate my 60th birthday and our 35th wedding anniversary. Very special."
Sandra & James from Grafton, Australia – April 2017
We had a wonderful time in Malta & a highlight was our time spent at Indulgence Divine in Birgu. We felt quite pampared - luxurious finishes, tasty treats, friendly welcome from Noni. Only wish we could stay longer.
A great way for me to celebrate my 60th birthday and our 35th wedding anniversary. Very special. Thanks Aldo. You have created an amazing place.
"We really appreciated the welcome pack, Victor's jokes, breakfasting and having a glass of wine on the roof terrace."
Joanna & Eleanor from London, UK – March/April 2017
Thank you Aldo - we have had a wonderful time exploring your beautiful island. Indulgence Divine is the perfect place to stay. Quiet and perfectly situated.
We really appreciated the welcome pack, Victor's jokes, breakfasting and having a glass of wine on the roof terrace. I was really excited to see the ship graffiti, especially as currently reading a book about it! (Syncronicity...) would LOVE to come back.
"Back to ID again for our 6th visit - that says it all!"
Ken & Vivien from London, UK – March 2017
Back to ID again for our 6th visit - that says it all! celebrating Vivien's birthday and it was just perfect. Thanks to Victor for meeting us at the airport and for the invitation to what was a wonderful evening of Gospel Choir music at St Lawrence on Saturday.
The welcome treats were most welcome! Thank you. Thanks to Josephine for all the behind the scenes work and of course to Aldo a huge thanks again for everything (we liked Mr Triby!!).
We hope to be back again.
"We enjoyed staying in this part of Malta and living like the locals do."
Lisa & Rachael from Georgia, USA – March 2017
Aldo - Love your creative decorating and your ability to make your house feel like the "real" Malta. We enjoyed staying in this part of Malta and living like the locals do.
I'm here every 90 days for business and hope to return with another family member to enjoy this beautiful country. All the best to you!
"The location is beautiful and makes getting around very easy."
Julie & Martin from Birmingham, UK – February 2017
Thank you so much. We have enjoyed our first visit to Malta. The house is beautiful and it's so easy to get about. My fondest memory will be the warmth and friendliness of the local people.
We were fortunate to see the carnival which was excellent. The location is beautiful and makes getting around very easy. We loved the local boats to take you across to Valletta - only 2 Euros each.
xx We shall visit again.
"...we found Valletta very accessible via the frequent ferry."
Roger & Jacky from Cambridge, UK – January 2017
Recommended by friends - Kim & Steve (May 2016). Indulgence Divine did not disappoint. Our first visit to Malta but won't be our last. ID, and Birgu, is such a lovely place to stay and we found Valletta very accessible via the frequent ferry (much faster then the bus!)
ID is a fantastic house and we hope to return at a warmer time of year to make use of the lovely roof terrace. We've enjoyed exploring all that Birgu has to offer, as well as visiting Mdina (by bus) and Valletta (as aforementioned). A brief trip to Sliema confirmed to us what a great place to stay Birgu is!
Thank you Aldo and Joseph for organising Jacky's b'day cakes - it's been a memorable birthday week.
"It's beautifully decorated and very comfortable."
Claire & James from Oxford, UK – January 2017
We have loved staying at Indulgence Divine. It's beautifully decorated and very comfortable. Birgu, Valletta and Mdina are wonderful places - fascinating history and full of mystery and elegance.
We have decided that we must return. There is still so much more to explore.
"It has been our 5th time staying here at ID - we love it!"
Ken & Vivien from London, UK – October 2016
We have had a fabulous, relaxing time here in Birgu once again. It has been our 5th time staying here at ID - we love it! Here for Notte Bianca in Valletta this time - a great experience.
Thank you to Joe for picking us up at the airport and for the warm welcome. Thanks too to Josephine and of course to Aldo - shame we didn't get to have that coffee, perhaps next time! We will be back.
"The tranquillity, the colours, the freshness sitting drinking wine on the rooftop terrace in the summer evenings..."
Marlene from Toronto, Canada – August 2016
Indulgence Divine - living here has been such a treat. The tranquillity, the colours, the freshness, sitting drinking wine on the rooftop terrace in the summer evenings... nothing beats this feeling.
Crossing over to Valletta by ferry early morning is a must as is walking through Birgu to dine at the waterfront.
"We'll also be telling all our friends about beautiful Birgu and the fabulous find that is Indulgence Divine!"
Judith & Luca from Lisbon, Portugal – July 2016
A week in the beautiful house has been a much needed break for both of us. We couldn't stop taking pictures of the interior - We hope you don't mind if we borrow some of the design ideas for our house back home.
We've taken some lovely early morning walks (before the July sun gets too hot) around town, and the rental car has come in handy to discover those parts of the island too difficult to get to otherwise.
We'll also be telling all our friends about beautiful Birgu and the fabulous find that is Indulgence Divine!
"...a quirky feast for the eyes and totally relaxing."
Kim & Stephen from Cambridge, UK – May 2016
Indulgence Divine is so beautifully restored, decorated and presented, a quirky feast for the eyes and totally relaxing.
Thank you for everything Aldo, and to Joseph for a very warm and charming welcome, and to Josephine for taking such wonderful care of the house. We have both loved our stay here!
"The house was very comfortable and much more spacious than we had expected."
Martin & Janice from Cambridge, UK – May 2016
Birgu has been a brilliant place to stay in. We are very glad that we chose it over Valletta, which we liked as well, but better to work there than to stay in. The location of Indulgence Divine could not be better and it was great to wander the tiny lanes with their very different light at different times of the day. The house was very comfortable and much more spacious than we had expected.
We have particularly enjoyed sitting in the upstairs room and on the terrace. We have been really impressed by the amount of time and thought that has gone into the planning and design of the rooms - and the trust you have placed in your guests to look after your lovely things. Thank you for the trouble you have taken with the instructions and advice and many thanks to Joseph for picking us up, for his welcome and for the basket of goodies - a kind thought. We have had a fabulous stay.
"We loved the intricately decorated and well thought out interior, the colors."
Ashutosh & Brittany from Wisconsin, USA – April 2016
Thank you Aldo, Joseph & Josephine for this beautiful creation and experience! We loved the intricately decorated and well thought out interior, the colors. Loved the secret room full of wonderful books. Loved the bathroom door knob. Loved the colors (mentioning it again). Loved the wall hangings, the tapestry, the outdoor patio.
Aldo, thank you for being a great host and reaching out to us with great tips and suggestions.
"We chose well with Birgu - the most beautiful place with excellent local people. Grazzi."
Rosemary & Richard from West Sussex, UK – April 2016
Thank you Aldo for providing this wonderful house. Thank you Joseph for your welcome and hospitality. Thank you Josephine for being brilliant! Thank you all for the card and wine for our 40th anniversary! We chose well with Birgu - the most beautiful place with excellent local people. Grazzi.
Fabulous house - really ingeniously restored. Aldo has a real 'flair' and everything is perfect. Lots of steps but I managed despite my osteoarthritis + age. Birgu is a gem. The harbour is beautiful with all those "if only" yachts! The people are friendly and good company. Joseph is excellent with a warm welcome-pack, bread, jam, wine, nibbles + lots more. Aldo is an excellent host. Josephine an excellent cleaner. Thank you. xx
"One of the best rentals we've experienced in our world travels."
Nancy & Victor from Charlottesville, USA – April 2016
What a delight to spend time in your beautiful home... One of the best rentals we've experienced in our world travels. The attention to detail and style shows throughout, and we are grateful for the experience. It was a pleasure spending time with you. Until our paths cross again, we wish you our best.
"The house is situated in a spot you could only dream of."
Lindsay & Glenn from Durham, UK – April 2016
Wow ! What an amazing home. We had a wonderful time staying in this beautiful house. So much love and attention to detail has gone into this. What a way to spend my 40th birthday!
The house is situated in a spot you could only dream of. Aldo and Joseph have been amazing and so, so helpful. Thank you so much for everything. We will definitely be back.
"We enjoyed sleeping in the old chapel..."
Emma & Carl from London, UK – Mar 2016
Birgu has been fantastic, very laid back and welcoming. It's steeped in history. My husband's great grandparents were here in WWII so we saw pictures of them in books in the Museum of Malta.
ID is a great alternative to a hotel and makes you really feel part of the community in Birgu. We enjoyed sleeping in the old chapel and reading in the basement. Thank you very much for the experience. Now it's back to England to see our 2 year old, feeling very well rested.
"...a place to recommend to anyone who wants to get away from it all."
Clara & Olive from Norwich, UK – January 2016
Thank you Aldo and Joseph for such a lovely experience living in this beautiful work of art. The sheer amount of thought you have put in to the design, comfort, and our needs is made very apparent through everything you have provided in this abode. We cannot help but gush at every detail!
Thank you for making our honeymoon so comfortable. Coming back 'home' every night was such joy. We absolutely adore the blend of old and new, with that splash of pop colours! You have really awesome taste!Thank you so much for your generous welcome pack. It saw us through many ravenous mornings, and midnight snackings. That jam is fantastic!
This is definitely a place to recommend to anyone who wants to get away from it all. We shall be raving about this dream home to everyone once we return back to reality and the humdrum of life. Big love.
"We've stayed in many places and the attention to detail here is secondary to none."
Guy & David from Edinburgh, UK – September 2015
Thank you Aldo for making us feel very welcome. We have thoroughly enjoyed our stay here, in your expertly designed apartment. We've stayed in many places and the attention to detail here is secondary to none.
The location is also fantastic - so different from anywhere we've experienced. We shall recommend this place to all our friends.
"No hesitation in recommending Indulgence Divine to others"
Les & Di from Liverpool, UK – July 2015
We have had a wonderful holiday in your fabulous apartment. Birgu is the perfect location for visiting the rest of the islands. 30 mins by bus to Valletta or 20 mins by water taxi and the lift to the top.Thank you for the welcome pack which got our holiday off to a great start.
Thank you John for your help when we needed it and looking after us so well. Should we return to Malta this would be our number one choice and would have no hesitation in recommending it to others. Maybe see you again in 2018!
"A designer’s hand all over it which made it a joy to inhabit"
Johanne & Derek from Victoria, Australia – June 2015
A wonderful 3 days in Birgu thanks to your wonderful apartment. A designer’s hand all over it which made it a joy to inhabit! Will tell our friends in Australia who I am sure will seek out this opportunity.
John, thank you for your liaison – made life so much easier. Cheers.
"a sanctuary to return to"
Berenice & James from Poole, UK – May 2015
Our first visit to this gem of an island. We fell in love with Birgu and its history and wandering around its fascinating lanes.
This gorgeous apartment is a sanctuary to return to after exploring Valletta and Mdina where there are hordes of tourists. The bakery closed for good a few days before our arrival but there is a van which sells bread near / on the square at about midday daily. It's worth doing a day trip to Gozo to discover delicious Gozitan food and wine!
John and Lorraine were extremely welcoming and helpful.
"The location is perfect away from the busier areas of the island but just a bus ride, ferry or water taxi to explore further away."
Caroline & Barry from Dunblane, UK – April 2015
This was our first visit to Malta and what a brilliant choice. The location is perfect away from the busier areas of the island but just a bus ride, ferry or water taxi to explore further away. We loved ID with its stylish decor and so many interesting pieces of art/design. Some new item to discover everyday. Very comfortable and a lovely place to return to at the end of the day.
Birgu has to be one of the best places full of history, amazing balconies, windows and doorways which I have taken photos of (most of them). You have to go out at the right time to discover the local shops. The bakery had us fooled for a while but eventually we discovered the delicious bread. Also the fruit and vegetable van that daily appears at the end of the street.
We have had a brilliant time, enjoying the weather, learning about Malta's rich and varied history, loving its beautiful buildings and enjoying walks around both city and countryside. We hope to return soon. Thank you Aldo for sharing your amazing home and thank you Lorraine and John for your warm welcome and lifts to and from the airport.
"Very calm, safe and peaceful"
Gillian & Nick from Dorset, UK – April 2015
Our first time in Malta and. looking around the rest of the island, we realised that we had made a great choice in Birgu and in Indulgence Divine. Beautiful walks, friendly people, lovely food and an all round great experience. ID is a lovely retreat to return to each evening. Very calm, safe and peaceful with lovely Spring colours and nice facilities. Thanks for the warm welcome to Malta.
"Everything in this fabulous house was perfect"
Peter & Karen from York, UK – April 2015
Our first trip to Malta but we will be back! Everything in this fabulous house was perfect! And many thanks to John who helped us so much on our arrival.
"Wonderful house - felt very special to have stayed here"
Ann from London, UK – March 2015
Wonderful house - felt very special to have stayed here. I can only admire the attention to detail that has gone into it all. In particular - great shower and great coffee. Birgu itself is a beautiful place to stay, but still easy to get to Valletta or around the rest of the island. As a place to escape for a few days, Birgu and Indulgence Divine have been wonderful. I hope to be back (and will recommend to everyone I can think of!)
Special thanks to John - and also for the welcome pack which was a lovely treat.
Sue & John from Northumberland, UK – March 2015
Indulgence Divine provides a perfect base from which to explore the many delights of Malta. Birgu is the most attractive and historical location and you are generous in sharing your beautiful home with us, Aldo. Thank you to Lorraine and John for their support and kindness. With very best wishes.
"such a relaxing place to stay"
Jackie & Keith from Staffordshire, UK – Dec 2014
This was our second visit to ID and familiarity certainly doesn't breed contempt here! It's such a relaxing place to stay - as is Birgu itself, which has changed a lot in the 18th months since we were last here. The completion of the waterfront has made such a difference. Many thanks to Ray for looking after us again and for the warm welcome. Very best wishes for the future. Thanks also to Josephine. And last but not least to Aldo for the opportunity to stay in this wonderful house (again).
"so beautiful and so packed with history"
Lisa & Mal from Essex, UK – November 2014
Our first stay in Malta and what a lovely place to stay! We are so happy to be in Vittoriosa - so beautiful and so packed with history. Hope to be back soon.Ray was so helpful we wish him well for his future plans.
"a home from home for us"
Vivien & Ken from London, UK – October 2014
Our 3rd visit to ID, which is becoming a home from home for us! Thanks again to Ray for the warm welcome and the welcome treats. We were fortunate to be able to meet Aldo for a coffee during our stay and told us it was Ray's last month - we will miss him. Thoroughly enjoyed our stay as always - here for all of Birgu Fest this time. The town is so very pretty in the candlelight.Got to see the Blue Grotto this trip - well worth a visit. Impressed with all the developments going on around the area - lovely to be able to walk around to Senglea this time. Water taxi service to Valletta (just past Bacino's Cafe/restaurant) is good value for money and so much quicker than the bus. Hope to be back again next year too!
"Thank you Aldo for opening your wonderful home to us"
Gary & Penny from Toronto, Canada – September 2014
Thank you Aldo for opening your wonderful home to us. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay here and in Malta. Hopefully we can return one day to stay again at I.D. We really loved Osteria VE across the road run by Stefano and Thomas. Both my mother and father were born in Malta but immigrated to Canada at a young age. Neither decided to return to visit and this has been taken up by the various nephews and nieces. This is our first visit and we have thoroughly enjoyed it. It has been a great experience to see the heritage and beautiful sights of Malta.
I certainly hope that our son and daughter will take the opportunity to visit Malta and see the beautiful country where their nanu and nana lived.
